  Re-offenders and families 14 January 2004
New research from a leading American criminologist has identified stable relationships and families as a key factor in keeping ex-prisoners from returning to crime.

But is the expectation that a good woman will keep her man on the straight and narrow placing too great a burden on the woman? Are prisoners well enough prepared to resume relationships that have been left on hold for often years?

Penny Mansfield, Director of One Plus One and Eric Allison, crime correspondent for The Guardian join Jenni to discuss the issues.
