  Gender Budget Analysis 08 December 2003  
A new initiative by the Treasury looks set to shake up the way public spending decisions are made by taking gender into account.

Government departments have been asked to consider how their policies affect women when they make their annual bids for Treasury cash. With the Government also running a pilot project looking at analysing spending by gender.

Ruth Lea, formerly of the Institute of Directors and Professor Sylvia Walby, co-chair of the Women's Budget Group join Jenni to discuss whether it will lead to better public policies for men and women.
