Three generations of women alone in a secluded house for twenty years awaiting the return of a former lover. Samuel Barber's little-performed gothic opera Vanessa heads to London this weekend.

The Texan soprano Christine Brewer joins Jenni to talk, ahead of taking on the title role at the Barbican in a one-off concert with the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
Barber's Vanessa is at the Barbican Hall on Saturday 15 November, 7.30pm
