There always seems to be some new-fangled food arriving in Britain and we, just as quickly, seem to absorb new influences and new ingredients and mould them into our diet.

New wave Asian is the latest thing. Simon Parkes talks to the Indonesian food writer Sri Owen about the dishes that remind her of home, among them a Balinese dish of spiced pork in a banana leaf wrapping.
