Promoting gender equality in the EU

Eva-Britt Svensson is a Swedish MEP who was appointed the new Chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Gender Equality this summer. Jane talks to her about her priorities for her five years in charge, which include the appointment of an EU Commissioner responsible for Gender Equality and an action plan on the issue. She also learns how the work of the committee impacts on the lives of women in the UK and other member states.
