Saving for Children 17 Aug 2007
Piggy Bank
What’s the best way to invest for our children’s future?

Any child born after 1 September 2002 is entitled to free money from the government – in the shape of a £250 Child Trust Fund voucher which their parents can invest for them. But one quarter of parents continue to fail to invest the voucher for their children, leaving the government to open an account for them.

As new websites and advice services launch to help parents invest, we look at the whole issue of saving for children. How seriously should we take it? And we consider the best way to invest – including for those who were born before the 2002 cut-off date.
