History
The women they left behind 17 Jul 2009
Cover shot of the Women They Left Behind
The lives of women involved in Grimsby’s fishing industry.

At its peak in the 1950s, Grimsby was the largest and busiest fishing port in the world. "The Women They Left Behind" by Tina Bramhall documents the lives of wives and mothers of Grimsby's trawlermen, an industry fourteen times more dangerous than mining.  Tina Bramhill joins Jenni to hear the stories of Grimsby’s fishing families.

The Women They Left Behind  by  Nick Triplow, Tina Bramhill and Jade Shepherd is available from Grimsby's National Fishing Heritage Centre price £5.
