MPs to vote on extending the 1967 Abortion Act to Northern Ireland
A cross-party group of MPs wants to extend the 1967 Abortion Act to cover Northern Ireland. Currently, a woman in the province can only have an abortion if there is a serious threat to her life. The pro-choice MPs have put down an amendment to the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill to bring access to abortion in line with the rest of the UK. But Northern Irish members argue that neither they, nor the people they represent, back this change.
