Achieving a slimmer bin

Taking out the rubbish has to be one of the least favourite jobs – especially when it’s smelly and drips all over the kitchen floor. In the UK we throw away 22 million tonnes a year – more than any other country in the EU. Well that was enough for one of our listeners to change her habits. Karen Cannard lives in Bury St Edmonds and her local council have named this week Zero Waste Week – setting everyone in the borough the challenge of reducing their waste down to zero. Karen decided to give it a go and for the last six weeks has been writing a blog about her experiences called The Rubbish Diet. Each day this week Karen is going to give us her top tips for slimmer bins.
