Pay Rise Prejudice 09 August 2007
Money
New research suggests that employers react badly to women asking for more money.

Women may be right to feel nervous about trying to negotiate a bigger pay packet, according to research just published in the US. Experiments suggested that men are less likely to want to work with women who ask for more money. So is it still true that women in the workplace are expected to be more selfless than their male counterparts? Jenni discusses pay rise prejudice with Merryn Somerset Webb, editor of MoneyWeek and author of the book Love is Not Enough: The Smart Woman’s Guide to Making and Keeping Money, and Angie Robinson, CEO of Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce.

Love is Not Enough: The Smart Woman’s Guide to Making and Keeping Money by Merryn Somerset Webb is published by HarperPress ISBN-13: 978-0007235186.
