Molar Pregnancy 29 August 2006
For most expectant mothers the first scan is a reassuring milestone. But what if it reveals that what you thought was a healthy baby, isn’t a baby at all?

This is what women with a ‘molar’ pregnancy face – when placental tissue grows at an abnormal rate, and there is no baby.

To hear about this condition - which affects 3 in a 1000 pregnancies - Jenni Murray is joined by Professor Michael Seckl, Professor of Oncology and a molar pregnancy expert, at Imperial College London and Shobhini Ehzuvan, a patient of Prof Seckel’s who has experienced the condition.
