Irene Kahn
On poverty and human rights

Irene Khan was the first woman and the first Asian to become Secretary General of Amnesty International - and has since won a clutch of awards for her work as a human rights advocate. Irene will be explaining to Jane why she thinks it’s vital for the world’s poorest women that we start to see poverty not as a straightforward economic problem but as a human rights crisis in itself.

'The Unheard Truth: Poverty and Human Rights' by Irene Kahn is published by WW Norton ISBN 978-0-393-33700-6
