Does she get a bad press?
It was widely reported last week that ‘Children of working mothers are less healthy’ - which prompted columnists and bloggers to bemoan yet more negative scrutiny directed at women who juggle paid work and parenting. Why, some asked, is there not similar attention paid to the impact of ‘working fathers’, or families where the parents are both in employment? Jane will be joined by Professor Catherine Law at University College London Institute of Child Health, one of the authors of the paper which hit the headlines, and Dr Caroline Gatrell, Lecturer at Lancaster University Management School to find out the truth behind the news copy, and to ask how useful the term ‘ working mother’ is today.
