Dreda Say Mitchell
The inspiration for her novels

Dreda Say Mitchell grew up on an estate in the East End of London. It provided inspiration for many of her novels including her latest , 'Geezer Girls'.  In 2004,  ‘Running Hot’, won a Crime Writers' Association's award for best first novel. As well as her writing, Dreda works part-time as an education adviser in Islington, specialising in literacy programmes for under-achieving black children. She joins Jenni to discuss her career, her latest novel and the inspiration behind her successful crime books.

Geezer Girls by Dreda Say Mitchell is published by Hodder and Stoughton ISBN-10 0340937106
