This month Sonia Sotomayor will begin her confirmation hearings as an American Supreme Court judge. She is the daughter of an immigrant Puerto Rican factory worker, and since her nomination there have been debates as to whether her background will shape her decision making. So are you forever influenced by your roots, however successful you become in adult life? Constance Briscoe, one of Britain’s first female black judges and Michelle Mone, leading entrepreneur and creator of lingerie brand Ultimo, share their views and experiences with Jenni.
