G8 leaders’ wives are urged to rally against “sexist” Berlusconi.

Will this week prove a turning point in the political career of the Italian prime minister, Silvio Berlusconi? First there were the allegations that he had consorted with call girls. Then a group of Italian academics wrote an open letter to the wives of the world leaders, due to attend next month’s G8 summit in Italy, asking them to boycott the meeting and protest against Italian Prime Minister's “sexist” and “offensive” attitude to women. And now there's been an editorial in an influential Catholic news magazine suggesting Berlusconi’s behaviour has been less than ethical. The Italian journalist and political researcher Marco Colombo and Prof Bianca Becalli of Milan University – one of the originators of the letter to the G8 wives – join Jenni to discuss whether Berlusconi’s career can survive these latest developments.
