Lesbian novels 6 Aug 2008
Taking the narratives to the mainstream

Lesbian fiction has come a long way from the days when any novel involving two women lovers had to end in tragedy. Novelist Val McDermid joins Jenni to discuss ‘From the Ban to the Booker’ – a two part documentary which explores how writers like Jeanette Winterson, Ali Smith and Sarah Waters took their narratives into the mainstream and in doing so won themselves a clutch of awards.

‘From the Ban to the Booker’' is broadcast on Radio 4 on the 12th and 19th of August at 1130am
