Lucy Chesire 3 June 2008
The relationship between HIV and TB

The acronym HIV/AIDS is now a familiar one, but what about TB-HIV? Kenyan health worker Lucy Chesire was diagnosed with HIV in 1992, and due to her lowered immune system developed TB eight years later. She survived, but hundreds of thousands of women in Africa and Asia do not. TB is now the leading killer of people living with HIV in Africa, and Lucy believes it is effectively useless to tackle HIV/AIDS without also addressing the threat of TB. Jane speaks to Lucy about her role in the global Stop TB campaign.
