Campaigning for politicians to reveal their expenses

If politicians don’t want to be seen as ‘fat cats’, they should reveal all expenses. The thirty seven year old American campaigner and author Heather Brooke talks about her three year battle to get MPs to fully account to the public for how they spend their expenses.

Under the freedom of information act she wants the details of the money MPs have spent on their second home allowance to be disclosed. She tells Jane shy her case is worth a high court battle and what motivated her to move from crime reporting in Washington to campaigning in the UK.

'Your Right to Know - New Edition: A Citizen's Guide to the Freedom of Information Act' by Heather Brooke is published by Pluto Press, ISBN-10: 0745325823.
