Carry On Acting; the woman taking on the role of Charles Hawtrey.

The actor Charles Hawtrey - famous for the Carry On films, was also renowned for his impersonations of women. A new play based on his life story is underway in Liverpool,  the lead role of Hawtrey is taken by a woman, Amanda Lawrence. So what is it like to be a woman playing a man famous for his portrayal of women? Jenni is joined by Amanda in the studio how she captured the spirit of Charles Hawtrey. 


‘Jiggery Pokery’ is at the Unity Theatre, Liverpool until Nov 14th then it is touring.
