Headaches 02 July 2009

The costs of the debilitating condition

It receives very little attention but is a widespread problem resulting in a lot of pain, distress and absenteeism from work and disruption of everyday life. The economic cost of days lost at work is seven billion per year. Yet headaches are the least publicly funded of all neurological conditions relative to their economic costs. Headache UK, has launched a Manifesto in order to raise awareness of the condition. It is being endorsed by the All Party Parliamentary Group on primary headache disorders. Jenni talks to Kate Anderson about the impact migraines have had on her life. To discuss the Manifesto and the latest treatments and developments they are joined by Wendy Thomas, Chair of Headache UK and  Mark Weatherall, Consultant Neurologist, Charing Cross Hospital, London.
