US Reproductive Politics 5 Feb 2009
The changing face of women’s politics under Obama

President Obama restated his commitment to legal abortion on the anniversary of the Roe v Wade Supreme Court ruling. But with a group of Republicans forcing family planning measures to be dropped from his economic stimulus package, will women’s reproductive rights become a battleground issue for the Obama presidency? We also hear about Hillary Clinton’s replacement in her former US Senate seat for New York – Kristin Gillibrand, and the passing of the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. Jenni talks to Margo Miller, from Democrats Abroad and a former Washington lawyer and to Ann Friedman, deputy editor of The American Prospect magazine and an editor of Feministing.com.
