US elections and the women’s vote 03 Nov 2008
How will the votes of “maxed-out moms” affect the US election?

It’s now common for political parties to battle over the support of a carefully targeted group of women voters. In 2000 it was the soccer moms and in 2004 it was the defence moms. This year the female demographic that Obama and McCain are chasing is the "maxed-out moms".  To find out why the vote of this new group matters so much Laura Kuennsberg, BBC correspondent, reports from the US and Jane talks to Cindy Weber, Professor of Politics and International Relations at the University of Lancaster.
