Childhood epilepsy 24th September 2008
The latest developments in treatment

Epilepsy affects 75,000  young people in the UK. For many it can be well-controlled and does not impact negatively on their lives. However for around 15 per cent it can impair quality of life and also cause developmental delays and learning difficulties. At the European Congress on Epileptology in Berlin this week Professor Helen Cross, Prince of Wales Chair of Childhood Epilepsy, is presenting her latest research on the ketogenic diet, which can help control epilepsy. She’ll be talking to Jane about the research and the latest developments in childhood epilepsy. They are joined by Fiona Kettell from the charity Epilepsy Wales, whose 18- year-old son has had epilepsy for 16 years.
