Before Green Gables: The new prequel to LM Montgomery's classic book.

When “Anne of Green Gables” hit the shelves in 1908 it became an unexpected instant success. The story of Anne Shirley, the feisty girl with the big imagination and love of words has enchanted ever since. To commemorate the novel’s centenary, a prequel has been written which uncovers Anne's early upbringing. It tells the story of her parents’ death from illness, and how the young Anne was passed from foster home to foster home. Jane talks to Budge Wilson, the award winning Canadian author who took on the challenge to write "Before Green Gables". She explains how she constructed the early beginnings of Anne from the clues given in L. M. Montgomery’s classic book.

Before Green Gables, by Budge Wilson is published by Puffin ISBN 13-978-0399154683
