On writing modern carols

Carol Ann Duffy has turned her attentions from composing poetry to writing lyrics for a collection of modern carols. The Manchester Carols retell the Christmas story for believers and non-believers alike. So what is the enduring appeal of these religious songs? Jenni talks to Carol Ann Duffy about how her words were set to music.

The Manchester Carols will be performed at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester on Friday 14th December
