Laser Treatment for Facial Hair Removal 25 October 2007
How safe is laser treatment for facial hair removal? Should practitioners be medically qualified?

Britain is one of the few countries where lasers are used for facial hair removal without medical supervision, yet there are more complaints about this procedure than for any other type of non surgical cosmetic treatment. In April this year, the government announced that the beauty industry would regulate its own use of botox and dermal fillers. It is believed the use of lasers for hair removal will shortly come under self-regulation too. But how effective will self-regulation in this area prove to be? Kate Betts talks to one woman who was given £9,000 after her treatment went terribly wrong and Jenni discusses the issue with consultant dermatologist Dr Nick Lowe and Sheila Godfrey from the British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology.
