Genetic testing 28 Nov 2006
Should the availability of genetic testing be extended so that parents carrying an inherited genetic defect do not have to face an abortion or childlessness? The technology has been around to test for genetic disease prior to pregnancy using IVF techniques for more than ten years. However,  the numbers of couples who take advantage of it is still small. Is underfunding and over-regulation to blame?

Martha talks to Professor John Burn, Head of Newcastle Institute of Human Genetics and President of the European Society of Human Genetics and to Rachel Hurst OBE, from Disability Awareness in Action.
