This week marks the 60th Anniversary of Child Benefit and its predecessor the family allowance. At the moment, child benefit is worth £17.45 per week for the first child, and £11.70 per week for second and subsequent children. The Child Poverty Action Group is campaigning for child benefit to be increased and paid at the same rate for all children. But what exactly is Child Benefit for? Should it be for all children or could it be more effectively targeted at lower income families? Jenni's guests include Fran Bennett, author of the report 'Child Benefit: Fit for the Future?'.
