Adrienne Rich is widely acknowledged as one of the leading American poets of our times. Over the past fifty years she's published more than 17 volumes of poetry and four books of non-fiction, and has been the recipient of nearly every major literary award, including the National Book Award, the Fellowship of American Poets, and the Poet's Prize.
Adrienne Rich is currently on a rare tour of the UK. She talks to Woman's Hour reporter Anna McNamee about 60s feminism, the demise of independent publishing and why she turned down the National Medal for the Arts. She also reads her poem 'To Have Written the Truth' from her latest collection of poems 'The School Among the Ruins: Poems 2000-2004'.
