How useful are government measures against childhood obesity? 4 July 2006
From next school year, pupils in England will be weighed and measured as they start primary school and again before they leave. It's the latest initiative in the government’s attempt to tackle what’s being referred to by some campaigners as an “epidemic of obesity”.

But research from Loughborough University suggests these sorts of measures could be doing more harm than good by stigmatising overweight children. So how should schools deal with overweight children, and should they even be getting involved at all?

Jenni is joined by Dr Emma Rich, one of the authors of the report, and a lecturer in Gender, Health and Physical Education at Loughborough University and by Tam Fry, Honorary Chairman of the Child Growth Foundation.
