Maeve Binchy and Jenni Murray
A programme to celebrate the much-loved writer's career

Maeve Binchy is well-known as the author of many page turners, from Light a Penny Candle to Evening Class, Circle of Friends, and Tara Road. And she’s still topping the bestseller lists - most recently with the paperback of Heart and Soul - more than 30 years after her first work of fiction was published. To mark the publication of her latest collection of short stories, The Return Journey, Jenni went to meet her in her home in Dalkey, just outside Dublin. Maeve Binchy shares her warm and witty thoughts on her relationship with her readers, and discusses creating believable heroines who don't transform from ugly ducklings into princesses. She explains why she treated her hip operation like a cocktail party, and why practising moderation has never been her style. And she even treats Jenni to a ride in her great glass elevator.

'The Return Journey', by Maeve Binchy, is published by Orion, ISBN: 978 0 7528 7627 6
