Keira Knightley 03 Sept 2008
Keira Knightley in her role in The Duchess
On her new role as 'The Duchess'.

Keira Knightley made her acting debut at the age of six, and her breakthrough role came in Bend it like Beckham. Now aged twenty three, she is one of the biggest names in cinema having starred in the award-winning films Atonement and Pirates of the Caribbean. In her latest film, The Duchess, which is set in the late eighteenth century, she plays Georgiana, the Duchess of Devonshire, an ancestor of Diana, Princess of Wales. She was a celebrated beauty of her day, adored for her fine looks and fashionable clothes, yet, in private, was abused by a cruel husband. Keira talks to Jenni about her own life, and about what it was like playing Georgiana, whose personal life scandalised Georgian England.
