China's biggest popstar

The exquisite costumes, striking beauty and dream-like music of Sa Dingding have already made her China's biggest pop star. She is a former Mongolian nomad who sings in Tibetan and fuses the sound of the zither and horse-head fiddle with electronic dance music. This summer she is hoping to become the first Chinese pop star to crack the Western market. She talks to Jenni about the impact her early traditional musical influences had on her pop career.

Sa Dingding is performing at the Royal Albert Hall on 30 July, along with other winners of the Radio 3 Awards for World Music. Her album, 'Alive' is out now.
