Sandy and Max Lewis
Living with Down's Syndrome

When Sandy and Paul Lewis' baby Max was born with Down's Syndrome they struggled to understand what the diagnosis would mean. One nurse suggested that they give him up and have the baby they really wanted instead. 15 years on, Max is very much part of the family; larger than life and a gifted performer, he recently appeared in the film Notes on a Scandal, in which he played Cate Blanchett and Bill Nighy’s son. Jane spoke to Max about his love of performing, and to Sandy about what raising a child with Down's Syndrome is really like.

Living with Max, by Sandy Lewis, is published by Vermilion, ISBN: 978-0-09-192208-5
