Nicola Brewer 25 Jul 2007
Nicola Brewer
Chief exec of the Commission for Equality and Human Rights

After thirty years of fighting gender inequality, the Equal Opportunities Commission is on its way out. On October 1st it will cease to exist, and the Commission for Equality and Human Rights will be launched in its place. In her first broadcast interview, the new commission's chief executive, Nicola Brewer, talks to Jenni about her new job. What does she regard as the main obstacles to equality for men and women? And how does she respond to concerns that women’s issues will not be given sufficient attention when this “super-watchdog” has to deal with so much more besides?
