Wendy Richard 9 Jan 2007
On Christmas Day we saw Eastenders’ leading matriarch Pauline Fowler for the last time. After 21 years in the soap Wendy Richard decided it was time to leave Albert Square. Wendy was one of only two actors from the original cast to still be in the show.

Martha Kearney talks to Wendy about what it’s like to play one of Britain’s most popular TV characters and looks back at her comedy career which included Dad’s Army, The Likely Lads and the unforgettable Miss Brahms in Are You Being Served?
