She’s been dubbed the ‘Keith Richards of the violin’, and her music embraces an astonishing range of styles from Jewish Klezmer to tango, gypsy jazz and modern drum’n’bass.
Sophie Solomon began playing the violin at the age of two and was praised by Yehudi Menuhin at four. She continued her classical training until, at the age of 17, she was ready to rebel – and ended up as an underground DJ on the Moscow drum’n’bass scene. In recent years she has returned to the violin – and has a new solo album and single out now.
Sophie’s debut single 'Lazarus', was released on 31st July by Decca. Her debut solo album 'Poison Sweet Madeira' was released in March 2006. Her next UK tour date is 13 August, at the De Montfort Hall, Leicestershire.
