Indirect contact and new technology 25 Apr 2006
When parents divorce and they already have children, the court can make an order for direct, face to face contact, and also indirect contact - in the form of email or phone calls. But as technology advances, and with more and more children owning a mobile phone, there are now new ways of having indirect contact: texting, instant messaging, and webcams. Does this kind of contact provide a new, informal channel of communication which enriches children's relationships with non-resident parents? Or does it create a new grey area for parents to contest control over access?

Jenni is joined by Andrew Greensmith, family lawyer and head of Resolution, Paula Hall, counsellor for Relate and Alison Perry, who has done academic research on this subject.
