Programme 5 - Backstage

In the last in the series, Claudia finds out what goes on behind the scenes at a West End musical.

Dirty Dancing at the Aldwych Theatre in London has a backstage crew of 65 including sound, lighting, choreography, wardrobe, automation, stage hands, dressers and musicians. There's even a whole department devoted to wigs.

Claudia goes backstage during the performance to find out what it's like to work on such a complex and demanding show.

From dressing naked actors in 500 different costumes, to firing thunderbolts and lightning, the team have to coordinate a huge number of tasks during the three hour show.

Dr Tim Hopthrow, a group psychologist from the University of Kent, is on hand to analyse their team dynamics.

How does the presence of an audience affect team performance? And why is the size of your team paramount to its success?
