Programme 1 - Air Ambulance team
Claudia joins the London Air Ambulance Service as they are called out to the scene of a teenage stabbing.
This team deal with major trauma incidents daily, from road accidents to attempted suicides, where quick decision-making is essential.
Their helicopter contains an intensive care unit so the doctor and paramedic can perform life-saving procedures on the spot, before delivering the patient swiftly to the appropriate hospital.
Reaching and treating people so quickly can mean the difference between life and death.
Prof Rhona Flin from the University of Aberdeen studies group dynamics in the emergency services. How does this team manage to make decisions quickly and effectively?
And how do they cope with the emotional pressures of working in such a challenging team environment?
