PROGRAMME INFO
Thursday 21:00-21:30
Leading Edge brings you the latest news from the world of science. Geoff Watts celebrates discoveries as soon as they're being talked about - on the internet, in coffee rooms and bars; often before they're published in journals. And he gets to grips with not just the science, but with the controversies and conversation that surround it.

The Mummy X-ray

3D Mummy

The 3,000 year-old mummy of an Egyptian priest, Nesperennub, is undergoing the first ever 'virtual unwrapping' at the British Museum.

Geoff Watts talks to the archaeologists and technicians about how they scanned the body and created a 3D computer image.

Arctic fossil hunt

Palaeontologist Hans Larsson is currently digging for fossils in the Arctic. Before leaving, he told Geoff Watts why he expects to find completely new species of dinosaur.

Fake hand

Scientists have fooled the brain using fake limbs.

Henrik Ehrsson from UCL lends Geoff Watts a hand, to find out how our mind sorts out our senses.

Antarctic science

This week sees the centenary of Antarctic science in the UK.

In 1904, the SY Discovery returned to our shores. It brought back the first scientific information about the South Pole.

But what has polar science taught us since then?
