"There is no substitute for one-to-one advice from a top medical expert and that's what we offer our callers and emailers. But for each person who calls to ask for help, someone else phones in to pass on a tip or a suggestion - it's a great programme to present."

Chronic Pain
Millions of people experience chronic pain - continuous pain that can persist for months or even years.
It is particularly associated with arthritis, endometriosis, shingles or migraines, but it is not always possible to find the cause; even if it starts with an injury, pain can be present where there is no damage or harm involved.
There are various methods which can be used to help ease the pain, however, including medication, blocking nerve pathways and physiotherapy.
If these don't work, pain clinics can help sufferers live as full a life as possible while coping with their symptoms.
If you suffer from chronic pain, are you taking the correct medication? What are the possible side effects? Will the pain ever go away?
In this edition of Check Up, Barbara Myers poses these and other questions to Dr Charles Pither of the RealHealth Institute in London.
