Knees

Knees are the subject of this week's phone-in. Barbara Myers talks to Mr Timothy Briggs from the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore, Middlesex.

Knee conditions
You may be suffering from painful knees and this can be due to one of several things, for instance osteoarthritis, or damage to cartilage or ligaments. You could have a Baker's cyst at the back of your knee or be a teenager with Osgood-Schlatter's Disease where the knee-bone tendon repeatedly pulls at the point where it is attached to the tibia causing inflammation and swelling.

Exercise and treatments
Could there be any exercises that might improve the pain in your knees? Are there new treatments for damaged joints and could diet help conditions such as arthritis?

Are you worried about surgery? Or do you simply want to know how to deal with the pain of problem knees, then contact the programme.

Check Up  is your opportunity to ask an expert about the condition. If you have a question, contact us by calling 0870 010 0444 from 1.30pm - 3.30pm on the day of broadcast or by emailing the programme - see 'Contact Check Up' link above.
