Katie Derham

Katie Derham
Traveller's Tree presenter Katie Derham also presents ITV's Lunchtime News with Alastair Stewart, and has been hosting the Hall of Fame concert on Classic FM for the last seven years.

She started at the BBC as a researcher on Radio 4's Moneybox and Financial World Tonight, and, via the dizzy heights of business programmes like Moneycheck on Five Live, Business Breakfast and Working Lunch and current affairs shows like Here and Now, ended up as a reporter on Barry Norman's Film 96 and 97.

This lead to ITN, where for five years she was Media and Arts Editor, covering showbiz events around the world, and hosting the Classical Brit Awards four times. She also took a leading role as an anchor in the coverage of elections, royal weddings and the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. She's presented talk shows for LBC, fronted a number of documentaries for ITV, and been part of the Proms team.

Having been bitten by the travel bug after a stint living in Latin America as a teenager, Katie often writes about her trips for travel magazines and the Sunday Telegraph.

Recently, though, she's been thoroughly diverted by the challenge of learning to conduct the BBC Concert Orchestra for BBC2's Maestro.

She lives in Sussex with her husband and two daughters, and spends as many weekends as possible sailing.
