Alice Arnold trained as an actress and appeared in productions ranging from Evita to As You Like It. She joined the BBC radio drama company in 1988 and performed in over 400 plays and readings. She also played Mary in the long-running but sadly departed series, Citizens, and continues to read regularly for Poetry Please, With Great Pleasure and Sunday Format. She bumped into Peter Donaldson at a drinks do and joined the Radio 4 presentation team, on a freelance basis, 11 years ago. She can also be heard, in the middle of the night, reading the news on Radio 2.
Alice's first degree was in politics, she was a magistrate for 10 years, and continues to take a particular interest in the Youth Justice System. In her spare time she likes to play golf and tennis, and occasionally she gets on a horse - but doesn't always stay on it for long.
Alice admits "I'm no relation to radio critic Sue Arnold - but I admire her work enormously!"
