John Waite has presented You and Yours and Face the Facts on Radio 4 since 1986. He has also presented a wide range of documentaries. These include an exclusive interview with witness "Bromley", the teenage girl whose outbursts during cross-questioning at the Old Bailey brought the Damilola Taylor murder trial to a halt. As a result of the broadcast, "Bromley" was invited to 10 Downing Street to discuss ways of better protecting vulnerable young people giving evidence in court.
John was born in The Potteries and, after attending grammar schools in Sandbach and Wilmslow in Cheshire, and taking a degree in English and American Literature at the University of Manchester, joined the BBC as a graduate trainee in 1974. After stints in Northern Ireland and as a producer on the Today programme, he was a news and current affairs presenter for BBC Radio London (now BBC London Live) before joining Radio 4, where he can also be heard as a regular host on Pick of the Week and It's My Story. He teamed up with Rory Bremner for a series of spoof archive programmes called Some of our Pilots Are Missing.
