Does size matter?

Shop Talk discusses whether size really matters when it comes to business.

We've grown two inches in height and six and a half inches around our waists since the 1950s. Manufacturers are having to re-size their clothes to fit bigger customers.

Food portion size has grown too. According to a survey by the Consumers Association of Ireland, prepared meals sold in supermarkets have increased in size by as much as 100% over the past five years alone.

But some confectioners have stopped selling their king-sized ranges. So could we be seeing a backlash against super-sizing?

Mobile phones were the size of bricks when they first came out. But advancing technology has meant that they've shrunk dramatically. But have they become almost too small to use?

And the car industry seems to be heading in two different directions - people-carriers and four-by-fours have become very popular with some drivers whilst there's also a new breed of two-seater car on our roads.
