Haute Couture
In the 1940s there were 146 couture houses, nowadays there are only 6. Most of these are making losses and their clientele is disappearing fast. So is, Haute Couture, that custom-made, hand-crafted fashion which symbolises the fashion industry, dying? And does it matter if it does when most of us just buy the high street rip offs of the collections that follow a few weeks later.
Guests:
Hilary Alexander
Fashion Editor, Daily Telegraph
Caroline Cox
Cultural Historian, Author on Fashion History/Theory
Didier Grumbach
President, Chambre Syndicale de La Haute Couture
Helen Storey
Professor, London College of Fashion and former fashion designer
Robert Triefus
Exec Vice-President, Worldwide Communications, Armani Group
