Listen to programme 1
She spends seven days with Inspector Terry Jones and his colleagues from the Greater Manchester Police Abusive Images Unit - one of only three such specialist squads in the country. Day-to-day they battle with the dark side of technology, which allows criminals to disseminate horrific pictures of their abuse at the touch of a keyboard.
Operation Ore, the international effort to crack down on the illegal trade, has already led to hundreds of arrests in the UK alone.
In Manchester, Inspector Jones and his team have been particularly interested in one photograph - of a small boy forced to smile while being raped. He's convinced the child is British. But, out of the thousands and thousands of images posted on the internet by paedophiles all over the world, what chance has he of tracing this child and his abuser?
